Your
fifth grade son or daughter is invited to be part of the Perry Mighty Eagle
Band Program. Each student will be
tested for an instrument based on the student's instrument preference, his/her
ability to produce a sound on the various instruments' mouthpieces and director
recommendation.
This
year, we will be holding beginning band instrument drives for incoming sixth
grade students at the elementary schools. At these drives, you
will be able to have your child tested for an instrument and learn about the procedures
and standards for the Perry Mighty Eagle Band Program. Students will try out instruments at
different stations. They will select their instrument and be placed in a sixth grade band
class based on this selection. This
makes these beginner drives extremely important for your child’s placement in
band.
In
addition to the specific information regarding our band program at Perry, these
drives will offer an opportunity to see instruments displayed by Music and Arts
of Lewisville, (the music company which services the entire Carrollton Farmers Branch I.S.D.), and information on
instrument rental plans. For your convenience, they will be able to
discuss or set up various payment plans and rental contracts with you at this
time. We are looking forward to
meeting both you and your child at the
Beginning Band Drive. We strongly encourage you to come with your
child, as much of the information presented will be important for
you to understand as well. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU PLAN TO ATTEND ONE OF THE BAND DRIVES SO THAT YOU CAN
CONFIRM YOUR CHILD'S INSTRUMENT ASSIGNMENT, AND SO THAT YOUR CHILD CAN THEN BE
SCHEDULED FOR BAND!! If you do not
come to the beginner drives, and your child has chosen band on their schedule
sheet, another elective will need to be chosen.

IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND ANY OF THE BEGINNER DRIVES DUE TO PREVIOUS PLANS OR OTHER

TO DISCUSS ENROLLING YOUR CHILD IN BAND. MANY
OF OUR POPULAR INSTRUMENTS WILL FILL UP FAST, SO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU MAKE
EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND ONE OF THESE MEETINGS.
* Some instruments, such as percussion
and saxophone have a limit to the number of students who may be enrolled on
that instrument. Students will be tested
on all instruments to choose the most appropriate one for them. After we have tested everyone in the cluster,
saxophone and percussion students will be notified over the summer as to which
instrument they will play in band. Please
come with several instruments in mind.
